Tammy Nicholson

Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Tammy Nicholson provides therapeutic support to individuals, couples, and families across New Hampshire and Massachusetts. With over 15 years of experience as an outpatient clinician, she specializes in working with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and substance abuse, as well as supporting individuals with dual diagnoses and those transitioning back into the community from federal institutions. Tammy earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of New Hampshire and her Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University, where she gained foundational experience leading groups and conducting individual therapy for children, adolescents, and adults. In her practice, Tammy utilizes a diverse range of evidence-based treatment techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. Her person-centered and strength-based approach also incorporates nutritional-based and reality-based therapies, reflecting her belief that exercise and nutrition are deeply connected to mental health. This philosophy is further supported by her 2018 certification as a health coach from the Dr. Sears Wellness Institute. Tammy is committed to her clients' growth and often assigns homework between sessions to maintain focus on goals and foster accountability. In addition to her clinical work, she is an approved supervisor with experience guiding interns and pre-licensed clinicians in developing their own unique therapeutic styles. Outside of the office, she enjoys reading, skiing, hiking, and spending time at the beach or lake with her family and her three dogs.
