Guided by a fascination with the courage it takes to seek mental health support amidst personal and cultural obstacles, Suragbhai Gohel, MD, provides personalized psychiatric care to help patients achieve better quality of life. Dr. Gohel understands that mental health is shaped by a complex interplay of biological, psychological, and social factors. He tailors holistic treatment plans to the specific preferences and needs of each individual to ensure the safest and most effective outcomes. With extensive clinical experience, he specializes in treating a wide range of conditions, including anxiety disorders, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and ADHD. Dr. Gohel earned his medical degree from Saurashtra University in Gujarat, India, and completed his residency at the UCLA-affiliated UCLA-Kern Psychiatry program. In addition to his clinical training, he holds a Master’s in Public Health with a concentration in Epidemiology. This advanced background in clinical research provides him with a unique advantage in applying evidence-based practices to patient care. He works collaboratively with adults and seniors across the age spectrum, from 18 to 65 and older, including those who have recently been discharged from a psychiatric hospital. His therapeutic approach is further informed by modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness. To support a diverse patient population in San Francisco and throughout California, Dr. Gohel offers services in English, Gujarati, and Hindi.
