Stephan Baker, Ed.D., LPC, is a dedicated mental health professional serving patients in Chesterfield, Missouri, with a clinical focus on trauma-related concerns across all levels of severity. He brings a unique perspective to his practice, informed by extensive military experience as an active-duty Army Lieutenant Colonel. Dr. Baker earned his undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Louisville, a Master’s degree in Counseling from Missouri Baptist University, and a doctorate in Healthcare and Leadership from Nebraska Methodist College. He is further advancing his clinical expertise through a PsyD program at Cal Southern University and previously gained specialized training working with combat veterans at Jefferson Barracks VA hospital. Working with adolescents and adults, Dr. Baker provides support for individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and anger-management issues, with a specific specialization in suicide prevention and intervention. His primary treatment approach centers on Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Visual Imaging Replacement (VIR). He utilizes these evidence-based modalities to help those navigating past and present traumatic experiences, as well as dissociation and Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). Dr. Baker’s therapeutic philosophy is rooted in patient education and empowerment. He prioritizes teaching clients about the therapeutic process before, during, and after treatment to equip them with the tools necessary to sustain resiliency. By working to eliminate defense mechanisms and barriers, he helps individuals move toward self-actualization and reach their maximum potential. In addition to being EMDR certified, his clinical specialties include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Integrative Psychology, and parts/Ego state therapy. Outside of his clinical work, he stays active through cycling, golfing, and exercising.
