Sheila Broderick
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
I specialize in guiding clients through transitions and uncertainties that cause anxiety and depression.
For the past 16 years I worked at the Women's Center at Duke offering therapy to students who experienced gender or relationship violence, trauma and Title IX violations. I have been a clinical social worker/therapist for almost 30 years. I empower clients with tools to make personal changes that will ultimately make seeing me for therapy unnecessary. I specialize in guiding clients through transitions and uncertainties that cause anxiety and depression. I take a collaborative approach to work through family issues, relationship struggles and have extensive experience with the many issues that arise in the LGBTQIA+ community. I tailor my approach to each client's needs but most of the work I do derives from a Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) approach. CBT is structured talk therapy over a limited number of sessions that helps clients become aware of inaccurate or negative thinking so they can view challenging situations more clearly and respond to them in a more effective way.
