I strongly believe one's mental health is just as important as one's physical health. I recognize the importance of maintaining mental health and how it can greatly impact physical health and vice versa. I have been a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner for 5 years and graduated from Vanderbilt University. Before that, I was a nurse in the hospital setting. I have a very straightforward approach, and my patients appreciate the clarity I provide. I genuinely enjoy working with a diverse adult population including the LGBTQ+ community. My approach is compassionate and non judgmental-really. One thing that sets me apart from my colleagues is my additional experience working with adults who are learning they have autism. Frequently, people will come in questioning if this diagnosis explains their life's experiences. I spend time on that journey with them, understanding all the incredible benefits of having autism, while simultaneously working on the anxiety and depression that can accompany it. Usually we provide supportive care, and short term medications if indicated (and wanted) while someone learns more about who they are and what they want to do!
