Samuel Stinson
Psychiatrist
My goal is to practice evidence-based medicine and incorporating the full picture of a client's life to find the best care solution.
Within the field of psychiatry, I have extensive training for multiple types of anxiety and depressive disorders, eating disorders, PTSD, perinatal psychiatry/Women's Mood Disorders, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, OCD, psychodynamic psychotherapy, CBT, and reducing psychotropic polypharmacy. These areas of specialty reflect the broad training gained from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for psychiatry residency where I was the Chief Resident of Education. Having taught residents comprehensive interview techniques, I am well-versed in distinguishing diagnoses from one another and incorporate a thorough workup in order to rule out physical contributions to presenting mood/thought disturbances. In my clinical practice, I do not rely solely on medications as interventions and will utilize different psychotherapy techniques with clients to help manage their symptoms. I also incorporate clients' physical health as much as possible into their care with emphasis on sleep hygiene, nutrition, and mobility.
