(He/Him/His)
Psychiatrist
All clients are welcome in my practice. Let me support you on your mental health and recovery journey.
Dr. R. Dewayne Book is a Psychiatrist at AIM. Dr. Book specializes in addictive disorders, having studied neurobiology and biochemistry to understand chemical brain functions. This knowledge informs his well-rounded, individualized approach to treating patients struggling with addiction, an approach that also includes medication management, psychotherapy, patient education, and social network development. Dr. Book also offers Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) at AIM. TMS is often used when a patient has treatment-resistant depression and has previously tried other treatment methods and modalities, with no significant improvement. Working in a variety of settings and having a private practice since 1999 has led him to have over 30 years of experience treating patients with a wide range of psychiatric conditions, including PTSD, major depressive disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder. Prior to coming to AIM, Dr. Book was the Medical Director of the Addiction Recovery Center at MindPath, and was the Medical Director at Fellowship Hall for 10 years. Dr. Book is funny, compassionate, and empathetic. He ensures that all patients feel welcome and supported. He looks forward to working with you! In addition to the in-network health insurance plans already listed on my profile, we are also in-network with: - Blue Cross Blue Shield My Blue with Duke - Blue Cross UNC Health Alliance We accept out of network (OON) benefits & we file all insurance claims on patients' behalf.
