Richard Carey is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) specializing in psychopharmacologic evaluation and medication management for patients in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. He earned his Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in nursing from Regis College after completing a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology Pre-medicine at the College of the Holy Cross. During his time at Regis College, he completed the Family Nurse Practitioner track, which provided him with a broad foundation in medical treatment for individuals across the entire lifespan. He holds board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is authorized by the Drug Enforcement Agency to prescribe medications. Since 2009, he has provided psychiatric care for individuals navigating depression, bipolar affective disorder, ADHD, OCD, anxiety, trauma, and addictions. His clinical experience spans various environments, including inpatient psychiatric units, intensive outpatient programs, and community-based clinics. Additionally, his background includes training in primary care settings where he treated a wide range of medical and psychiatric conditions in patients of all ages, from newborns to seniors. In his current practice, he focuses on a generalist psychiatric approach with a specific interest in emerging treatments for anxiety and depression. He utilizes an integrative medical perspective, considering how a person’s overall physical health and medical status influence their mental well-being. He works with adolescents, teens, and adults, including seniors. The clinical areas he addresses include ADHD, anxiety, autism spectrum disorders, behavioral issues, bipolar disorder, and developmental disabilities. He also supports patients with concerns related to diet and nutrition, LGBTQ+ identity, personality disorders, panic attacks, phobias, PTSD, sleep disorders, and school or learning challenges. His approach is grounded in years of supervised training and experience across multiple psychiatric settings, allowing him to offer comprehensive outpatient care tailored to each patient's needs.
