I strive to create a supportive space where you can be your authentic self & grow as an individual!
Hello, my name is Noelle Shimazu, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate (LMFTA). I am originally from California and have lived in North Carolina since 2020. I received my master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Appalachian State University. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Human Development and Family Science from East Carolina University. I enjoy working with individuals ages 4 and up, using a systemic approach to help individuals, couples, and families including the neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ communities, navigate life transitions, anxiety, depression, and trauma. I strive to create a space where clients feel both understood and empowered. I strive to create a supportive space where you can be your authentic self. My primary approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which helps bring awareness to unhelpful thoughts, patterns, and behaviors. While my foundation is in CBT, I adapt my approach based on the needs of each client, incorporating various modalities including solution-focused, psychodynamic, and experiential therapies. In addition, I am Gottman Method Level I Certified, which provides research-based tools to improve communication, strengthen emotional connection, and navigate conflict in healthy ways. Clients working with me can expect sessions that are inquisitive, challenging, and occasionally infused with humor. My ultimate goal is to empower you with the insight, skills, and confidence to make the best decisions for yourself and within your relationships.
