Relational self-state approach (a more sophisticated/tailored version of Internal Family Systems)
With over 30 years in clinical practice, I have found that there are many dimensions to each of us, some of which we may not know very well. Initially, I will do a lot of listening and asking questions so that I can understand the best way to be helpful to you. It is often the case that the part of us that brings us to therapy is different from the parts of us that suffer, whether it’s in repetitive relationship patterns, depression, anxiety, lack of assertiveness, emotional numbing, and many other problems. These multiple self-states, in each of us, are not so obvious and can be in conflict with each other. We will work together to be able to better “see” and feel these self-states so that you can understand your own conflicting motivations and then be able to move forward in a more wholesome/integrated way. I am a certified relational psychoanalyst who is open-minded and interested in helping you address problems and to achieve your dreams.
