Merrill Wood
(She/Her/Hers)
Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC)
An inclusive practice specializing in eating disorders & food concerns, body image distress, anxiety, trauma, and obsessive compulsive disorder.
I'm Merrill, a licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, and I love supporting people who struggle with disordered eating or anxiety — (1) because they’re generally smart, intuitive, driven, & sensitive people and (2) because I get it. I’ve been there myself, and I understand the exhaustion of impostor syndrome, people pleasing, and following food rules. I know the discomfort of a constantly chattering inner critic. Your recovery won’t look like mine, but I do have some roadmaps and tools to collaborate with you in finding your own way to self-confidence, compassion, and the safety to rest. I specialize in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), while also using techniques from Internal Family Systems Therapy, Somatic Psychotherapy, and CBT. I am currently working toward becoming a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist, and I'm committed to practicing from a sexually affirming, multiculturally humble, body positive, & trauma informed position. Together we can reduce body image distress, cultivate resiliency, explore LGBTQ+ identity, find sexual health, manage relational conflict, and process experiences of pain, guilt, or trauma. Most importantly: while in counseling, I hope you feel perfectly safe to be exactly who you are while also exploring who you want to be without judgement or shame.
