Melissa Sempowski
(She/Her/Hers)
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
A life well-lived includes times of struggle and pain. My goal is to help you decrease suffering while living a meaningful life.
I have been practicing for 25+ years in research programs and a range of adult outpatient treatment settings, including 17 years in the Duke Cognitive Behavioral Research & Treatment program. I have specialized training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, and Cognitive Processing Therapy. I approach treatment collaboratively; we will work as a team to help you find your way back to a meaningful life. CBT is a very active therapy model; this is not just 'talk therapy'. We will work together to identify skills and practice for both in session and out in your world. I am active in my profession through membership in several professional organizations, supervising graduate students, and providing clinical supervision to provisionally licensed clinical social workers. Please reach out if you have any questions or think we might be a good fit!
