I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist that has worked in a variety of settings including schools, hospitals, and community mental health clinics. I have also worked at UVA's Counseling and Psychological Services which gives me unique perspective on the challenges that undergraduate and graduate students face. In providing treatment I utilize an approach that integrates classic and modern psychodynamic theory with contemporary approaches including family systems, cognitive-behavioral, and mindfulness. I strive to help individuals to utilize their strengths to overcome painful emotional symptoms and negative behavioral patterns that can be associated with life transitions, loss, trauma, personality development and interpersonal difficulties. As coauthor of the book, Psychodynamic Perspectives on Eating Disorders, I am able to provide expertise in this area as well.
