Maria is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in California

"Hi there, I’m Maria Avina. For me, therapy is all about helping individuals find healing in many areas of their life. I have over 15 years of experience working as a therapist in the community. When I'm not practicing therapy, I am spending time with my two sons, walking my dog, and going on hikes with my friends. My approach: I set clear goals for myself and my clients, and treat every session as an opportunity to make progress. I approach therapy through a person-centered lens and through other holistic approaches. My focus: I studied at Sonoma State University and obtained three master degrees in Mental Health and Career Counseling, and have been a practicing therapist and counselor for over 15 years. I am excited to work with anyone seeking healing and self growth. My clinical experience spans clients of all ages and from all walks of life. My communication style: I am a very emphatic with my clients, for me building trust and rapport is very important; I listen and communicate with honesty. I like to assign homework to ensure that the client feels accomplished."
