Lilian Odera

Dr. Lilian Odera is a licensed clinical psychologist who focuses on helping adult populations, particularly immigrants, racial and ethnic minorities, and marginalized groups. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Morgan State University in Baltimore before completing her Master of Science and doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Her clinical interests include supporting clients through a variety of psychological concerns, such as cultural adjustment, transnational issues, racial stress and trauma, immigration challenges, racial identity development, and relationship issues. In her therapeutic practice, Dr. Odera addresses a broad spectrum of psychological disorders, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, personality disorders, mood and conduct disorders, and self-harm or suicidal behaviors. She utilizes an integrative approach that incorporates psychodynamic, interpersonal, trauma-focused, and insight-oriented techniques. By working collaboratively with her clients, she aims to resolve presenting issues through a supportive and personalized process. With extensive training in multicultural issues, Dr. Odera is deeply experienced in addressing the impact of racial and social injustice on mental health. Having worked within university health systems, she also enjoys assisting clients with academic-related challenges, professional identity development, adjustment, and relationship concerns. Dr. Odera provides services in both English and Swahili.
