I am a somatically trained psychotherapist who understands the courage it takes to pursue therapy and I strive to provide a safe, non-judgmental, and welcoming environment in which to begin this process. I work from a somatic and attachment-based approach to therapy. Through prior years as a bodyworker, I gained a clear understanding of the connection between mind and body. Since then, through various trainings, I have worked to incorporate awareness of one’s physiology into my therapeutic practice. It is my belief that patterns which keep us feeling stuck are more encompassing than what we consciously understand, think, or tell ourselves. Our ways of being, or strategies developed that help us navigate life (sometimes ineffectively) can get lodged and locked into our minds and bodies. Research has shown that working through an integrated approach which includes the mind and body is the most effective path in healing. In addition to the importance of having mindfulness of ones physiological responses to our internal and external environments, I believe that powerful healing comes from secure relationships, and I work to foster a safe, healing relationship with all clients.
