Leigh Freilich
(She/Her/Hers)
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
EMDR Certified Therapist with expertise in the treatment of traumatic stress and culturally-responsive care. Provides therapy by telehealth in VA and NC.
Therapy provides a space apart from everyday life to build trust, safely explore our needs, recover from the past, and grow more fully into the best version of ourselves in the present. I provide psychotherapy to people of all identities and backgrounds that seek improved health. In addition to treating common challenges, such as depression and anxiety, I have advanced training and clinical expertise in the treatment of trauma recovery and culturally-responsive care. To most effectively address your unique needs and preferences, I take an eclectic approach to providing therapy and incorporate various modalities. Interventions informed by Internal Family Systems/"Parts Work," CBT, Mindfulness, and ACT are common approaches that I use to support people with accomplishing their goals. I operate from an inclusive, affirming perspective that acknowledges the unique strengths and needs we all have as people in community, shaped by the world around us. My approach is shaped by lived experiences and the work I have done with immigrants, refugees, low-income women, and LGBTQIA+ people.
