I'm a Filipino American psychologist rooted in a collaborative approach towards co-creating change through therapy and psychological assessment.

I'm Dr. Kevin Yabes, a Filipino American psychologist. As the son of Filipino immigrants, it's important to me that we (you and I) ensure your identities are acknowledged and centered in therapy and psychological assessment. I am a big believer that our personal backgrounds influence how we navigate the world and show up in the the therapy room. I use this lens as I provide therapy and administer psychological assessment. I'm a San Diego local and a double alumnus of SDSU '15, '18. I earned my BA in interdisciplinary studies and my MS in multicultural community counseling and social justice education from the Community-Based Block (CBB) program. As an undergraduate student, I was heavily involved on-campus and I'm excited to work with the community that helped develop me. I work with clients for many different concerns and find myself to be especially effective working with concerns related to Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) identity, men's issues and masculinity, racialized masculinity, adjustment to medical diagnoses, health/medical anxiety, and life/career transitions. I provide psychological assessment for clinical purposes such as ADHD evaluation, psychodiagnostic clarification, and surgical clearance. I also recently started to expand my practice to include immigration and asylum psychological evaluations to support visa applications. Outside of work, I enjoy being by the ocean, grabbing boba, spending time with friends and family, and catching up on the latest movie/TV show.
