Kathryn Byars

Dr. Byars completed her undergraduate degree in psychology at Davidson College. She went on to complete her doctoral degree in clinical psychology at The Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY). As part of her doctoral degree, she received specialized training in the assessment and treatment of adolescents and young adults with unusual experiences (e.g., unusual beliefs, unusual sensory experiences) at Long Island Jewish Hospital and the University of Pennsylvania. She also completed practica in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for individuals with anxiety, depression, and emotion regulation difficulties, including a practicum at New York Psychiatric Institute (NYSPI). Dr. Byars completed her pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral training at St. Joseph’s Healthcare, Hamilton where she continued work with individuals with unusual experiences and difficulties with emotions. She also received additional supervision in the group and individual treatment of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
