Katherine (Kate) Double
(She/Her/Hers)
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
Focusing primarily on relationships, sexuality, and trauma, I seek to meet ALL clients where they are in a welcoming and affirming environment.
I am a fully licensed LCSW in NC & VA; and a an LISW-CP in SC. I have a special interest in issues related to healing from trauma; life transitions; relationship satisfaction; sexuality; moving forward after relationship loss; and exploring gender identity. Starting with the belief that relationships of all types are central to our well-being, I partner with clients to create a warm and safe environment in which to explore patterns that effect individual and relationship well-being. I believe that the role of therapy is not only to heal past hurts, but also to improve current and future functioning. I see psychotherapy as a joint and dynamic process between therapist and patients. Treatment is always tailored especially for each patient, be that an individual or a couple. My work is informed by attachment & polyvagal theories. I use an integrative approach including the Gottman Method, EFT, mindfulness, Ericksonian methods, solution- focused, and narrative counseling. I am trained in EMDR and clinical hypnosis and use these either as stand-alone treatments or adjunct therapies when desired and clients. I have a BA from Bard College and an MSW from UNC Chapel Hill.
