Julia Johnston, LPCC Julia Johnston is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Ohio who has been practicing since 2017. She attended Ohio Northern University where she received her BA in Psychology. At ONU, Julia worked with her professor to conduct research on how trauma impacts learning and memory. She presented her research findings at the national level. Julia attended John Carroll University for her MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in addiction. Throughout her life, Julia has always been fascinated by how the brain works and how it influences thoughts, feelings, and emotions. In college, she studied the impacts that trauma has on the brain through neuroscience research. Julia always thought she would have a career in a research lab, until she had her first internship at a private practice. There, she saw the impact of group therapy and watched the power of human connection unfold. Julia is dedicated to empowering individuals to grow into their best selves. She utilizes a person-centered approach to therapy and tailors sessions to the clients’ needs. Julia uses evidence-based practices in Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy. She is trauma-informed and believes that clients are the experts of their own lives. Having a strong support system can help individuals prevail over challenges and maintain a state of physical and mental well-being – let’s connect so Julia can be a support to you! Julia is passionate about her role as a therapist and loves to learn about new techniques and skills. She loves reading books – mostly suspense/thrillers but is always open to new recommendations. She enjoys moving her body by running or walking through the park, yoga, or strength training. She enjoys baking and spending time with her family.
