Joy Wood

Joy Wood is a Licensed Independent Social Worker with a Supervisory Designation who focuses on helping individuals and families navigate life’s complex challenges. Based in Brecksville, Ohio, she assists clients in discovering effective coping mechanisms to improve their overall quality of life. Her clinical expertise is centered on treating depression, anxiety, grief, and trauma. With over 20 years of clinical experience, including previous roles as a Director and Supervisor, Joy brings a wealth of leadership and practical knowledge to her practice. She earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Case Western University and has undergone extensive specialized training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Joy’s approach to counseling is rooted in the belief that a successful therapeutic relationship is built on a non-judgmental perspective. She prioritizes her clients' own goals and values, allowing them to lead the way in their journey toward personal growth. In addition to DBT, her work incorporates modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family Therapy, Mindfulness, and Parent Child Interaction Therapy. She provides care in English for a wide range of age groups, from children as young as 6 to seniors aged 65 and older, including those who have been recently discharged from a psychiatric hospital.
