Johara identifies as a bi-racial, Somali-Norwegian, Muslim, cis woman. She is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker who received her Masters in Social Work in Massachusetts, and is working towards her PhD in Social Work at the University of Minnesota. She has been serving children, adults, and families through various forms of therapy and community work since 2011, and now focuses on individual and family therapy in traditional office spaces and in community settings. Through the years she has developed a practice that leans strengths-based and solutions-focused, pulling from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Multi-Systemic Therapy, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Narrative Therapy. She also offers Trauma-Focused CBT and Complicated Grief Treatment when appropriate.
