Jennifer Mixson

Adolescents and adults between the ages of 14 and 70 in Virginia can find comprehensive outpatient mental health support through the clinical work of Jennifer Mixson, a Licensed Professional Counselor. Jennifer utilizes an integrated therapeutic approach that incorporates elements of Person-Centered, Cognitive-Behavioral (CBT), insight-based Psychodynamic, and Reality therapies to meet the unique needs of her clients. With more than 20 years of experience in the behavioral health field, she has supported a diverse range of individuals and groups across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. Her clinical expertise includes assisting those managing depression, anxiety, relational challenges, and psychotic disorders. In her recent practice, Jennifer has focused on crisis intervention and crisis stabilization, employing brief interventions designed to maintain safety and enhance daily functioning. Her academic background includes a B.A. from the College of William and Mary and an M.S. in Clinical Psychology from the College of St. Joseph. Outside of her professional practice, she values time with her family and dogs, attends craft shows, and finds creative outlet in spinning, dyeing, and knitting yarn.
