It is important to address the invisible or underlying conditions which might contribute to the academic and workplace struggles.
I have been a Clinical Psychologist in Oregon for 30 years. The origins of my orientation to psychotherapy lie in the Client Centered work of Carl Rogers where empathy, unconditional positive regard, genuineness and acceptance guide the therapeutic pathway toward personal growth. Along the way I've studied Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dilalectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), all of which inform my clinical approach to treatment, and are especially useful in the treatment of anxiety and mood disorders, e.g. Social Anxiety and OCD. While working in OHSU's Department of Medical Psychology, I specialized in the assessment and treatment of Learning Disabilities, Attention Deficit Disorders, TBI, Autism Spectrum Disorders and related medical conditions. It is important to address the invisible or underlying conditions which might contribute to the academic and workplace struggles. In the '80's I worked as a Wilderness Therapist. I still value the healing power of natural settings, of which we have an abundance in the PNW. Mindful walks through natural landscapes is a proven antidote for the stresses of the times we live in. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I look forward to the opportunity to work together.
