Gary Matthews

Dr. Gary Matthews is a psychiatrist who brings a diverse clinical background to his practice, having completed comprehensive residency rotations in internal medicine, neurology, and both inpatient and outpatient psychiatry. His training also encompasses specialized areas such as geriatric psychiatry, child and adolescent care, addiction, and interventional treatments like ECT and TMS. Dr. Matthews earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Tulane University, where he was a Dean’s Honors scholar and actively engaged with the African-American Congress while volunteering as a tutor in the local community. Serving adults across various age groups, Dr. Matthews integrates his medical expertise with a commitment to professional excellence. He maintains active memberships in the American Psychiatric Association and the American Medical Association to stay current with advancements in the field. Outside of his clinical work, he is a runner and writer who also enjoys playing the saxophone.
