(She/Her/Hers)
Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
Hi, I'm Shaun! I work with clients with trauma, substance abuse, depression, anxiety, and relational/emotional stressors at Connected Wellness, Norfolk.
At the core of my counseling practice, I believe people are capable of change, growth, and can find new ways of coping with both the stressors of every day and the traumas of years passed. I work with clients with complex trauma, substance abuse and recovery, depression, anxiety, and relational stressors. I often work with clients with intersecting issues of trauma and substance use, helping clients to create new coping mechanisms for health and wellbeing. I hope to create a safe space where you can explore the past, find tools and strengths to help you feel grounded in the present, and develop goals and meaning. I have extensive practice using EMDR. I also utilize motivational interviewing, Internal Family Systems work, attachment theory, and psychodynamic approaches. I have worked in inpatient substance abuse recovery settings and understand the nuances of overcoming substance use alongside depression, anxiety, and trauma. I use humor and compassion. I believe therapy should be a process of releasing what no longer serves you and growing in health as you become equipped with new skills, new meaning, and a renewed sense of self.
