Dr. Erin Stevens specializes in the treatment of anxiety and related disorders.
Dr. Erin Stevens is a licensed clinical psychologist who has specialized in the treatment of anxiety and related disorders for over 15 years. She provides compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals struggling with a range of anxiety-related conditions. Dr. Stevens has extensive training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), with a particular emphasis on exposure-based treatments, the gold standard approach for anxiety- and OCD-related disorders. Originally from central Iowa, she is a founding member and current Vice President/Secretary of OCD Iowa, the regional affiliate of the International OCD Foundation. Dr. Stevens is committed to increasing access to accurate identification and effective treatment of anxiety and OCD-related disorders in underserved and rural communities that often lack specialized providers. Dr. Stevens specializes in treating obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), health anxiety, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, specific phobias, generalized anxiety disorder, separation anxiety, and perfectionism. She also has particular expertise in perinatal anxiety and OCD, working with individuals experiencing anxiety-related concerns during the prenatal or postpartum period. In addition, she is trained in Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE), a parent-based treatment program for childhood anxiety, and she co-leads our Parenting Anxious Kids therapy group. Dr. Stevens earned her B.S. in psychology from the University of Iowa and her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Northern Illinois University. She completed her APA-accredited internship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Medicine and the Birmingham VA Medical Center, where she received advanced training in psychological and neuropsychological assessment. She gained specialized experience providing evidence-based therapies for Veterans with PTSD, including cognitive processing therapy (CPT) and prolonged exposure (PE). Following her doctoral training, Dr. Stevens worked for six years at a private practice in Auburn, Alabama, where she was one of the only clinicians in the region offering exposure-based treatment for anxiety and OCD. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Stevens is passionate about contributing to the field through publishing, consultation, and education. She has authored over 20 peer-reviewed journal articles on risk and resilience factors for anxiety and related concerns. She also regularly presents at local and national conferences and provides consultation to healthcare professionals and schools to promote evidence-based understanding and treatment of anxiety and OCD.
