No matter who you are, sometimes life feels like too much, or maybe that you’re not enough. What could help is a teammate for this leg of the journey; someone who can listen intently, offer perspective, teach you some skills, compassionately call you out on stuff, brainstorm with you, and support you in making the changes you want to make. With over 20 years of providing therapy to many different people with a wide variety of issues, I’ve developed a direct and interactive style that is compassionate and team-focused. Therapy is a partnership with each of us doing our job to move you toward your goals, which are clarified at the beginning of our work. As a Cognitive-Behavioral Therapist I’ll help you develop insights and skills that are congruent with who you want to be so you can build a life you love. I see adults with mood and anxiety disorders, self-esteem/self-concept issues, gender/sexuality issues, life transitions, and people pursuing growth work to become more fully their authentic self. My specialties include couples counseling (trained through Level 2 in the Gottman Method), betrayal, grief and loss, fertility issues, parent coaching, and divorce. Within the divorce specialty I provide Divorce Consult Services, Co-parenting Therapy, Child Specialist Services within Collaborative Divorce, and have been a Parent Coordinator for NC courts. I am on the Board of Directors for the Center for Cooperative Parenting. It can take courage to start therapy. Visit my website, wakeadultcounseling.com, and read through to see if you’d like to call to schedule an appointment or talk about fit. No matter what clinician you choose to partner with, remember that you are worth it.
