I believe that the outcome of counseling is a product of the investment by both the therapist and client.

I believe that the outcome of counseling is a product of the investment by both the therapist and client, with an emphasis on the counseling relationship formed during a working partnership. I am both an active participant in the process and active listener. My communication and feedback is honest and direct. My role involves assessment, monitoring (when medication is involved), support, problem solving, decision making, skill building, cognitive reframing, education, affect management and behavioral change. As a JMU graduate I enjoy working with JMU students around issues of transition, stress management, social and communication skill building, anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, sexuality, and substance abuse.
