Grief and EMDR Trauma Therapist Serving the Chula Vista and San Diego Area. Providing in-person therapy and online counseling for California residents.

Hi, I'm Christy, a grief and trauma specialist. Welcome to my page! I help individuals who are struggling to overcome painful memories learn how to make peace with the past so you can move forward with your lives. I enjoy assisting people in overcoming depression, anxiety, grief and loss, and trauma (whether recent or from childhood). My approach My approach to therapy is very gentle and person-centered. Instead of considering what's wrong with you, I'm more interested in learning about what happened to you that brought you to seek a therapist. I'm committed to helping you get to the root of your issues and resolving your problems in a way that makes sense to you. My client focus My focus is on adults who are struggling to overcome past negative or traumatic experiences. I'm passionate about helping clients overcome anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma. Additionally, as a Christian, I also enjoy integrating faith into therapy for those who request that. But please know that if we don't share the same faith background, I will respect you and your beliefs and won't impose my values on you in your sessions. My communication style I take a predominantly non-directive approach to therapy, which means that each week I'll be checking in with you to find out what's on your mind and what you wish to talk about. However, I'm also here to serve as your guide and steer each session in the right direction so you can make effective progress toward your goals. How I help clients reach goals I approach goal setting at the beginning of therapy, usually within the first few sessions. At the outset, I want to know what your goals are for yourself and what you hope to accomplish in your therapy. Since this is your therapy I want to ensure we’re working toward the goals that you have chosen for yourself. My journey to becoming a provider I found myself drawn to listening to friends during hard times and noticed I had compassion for helping hurting people. I also dealt with my own mental health challenges while in college, including anxiety, panic attacks, depression, and trauma. I'm passionate about helping others experience healing and wholeness in the same way that I did. My first session with clients The first appointment is an opportunity to gather background and history regarding the issue you'd like to work on. You'll receive intake paperwork to review, fill out, and sign beforehand. I may ask personal questions, so know you're allowed to answer only what you're comfortable sharing. This session helps me to more deeply understand what's going on with you and inform my decision-making regarding how to guide your treatment.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based, psychotherapy model designed to alleviate distress from traumatic memories. By using bilateral stimulation—typically guided, side-to-side eye movements—while recalling traumatic events, it helps the brain reprocess and integrate memories, reducing their emotional, physical, and cognitive intensity.
