Starting and ending college---and all the experiences in between--can be challenging and overwhelming. I'm here to support you on this journey.
My unofficial career actually began as a Resident Advisor during my own college years. I know firsthand what it's like to navigate life on a campus—balancing academic pressure, managing roommate dynamics, and figuring out who you are while walking across a freezing quad in the middle of a rough week. Since those RA days, I have spent 25 years dedicating my practice to supporting folks through the exact kinds of challenges and major life transitions that college brings to the surface. I've committed my work to supporting folks struggling with relationship concerns, be it navigating changing and challenging dynamics with family back home or friction with friends and roommates. I work extensively with folks struggling with anxiety and depression, managing the heavy weight of sadness, stress, worry and feeling overwhelmed. I also often meet with folks struggling with grief and loss, whether that loss is death of a human or beloved pet, or grief surrounding a breakup, losing out on an internship or job, or complicated feelings about graduation and starting life outside of a school setting. Through my years of experience, I know that therapy works best when the connection and the "vibe" feel right. Because of that, my goal is to create a space where there are absolutely no right or wrong things to say. I invite you to come to sessions simply as exactly who you are, and I will meet you with warmth, respect, curiosity and understanding. Together, we will work to help you feel as settled as you can, and as good about yourself and your experiences as you deserve to feel. I'm licensed in Illinois, New York, and Oregon, so I'm able to work with students in any of those states, wherever your school happens to be. All of our sessions take place virtually via telehealth, so you can meet with me from your dorm, apartment, or wherever feels comfortable—no need to factor in travel time between classes or a work-study shift. You can learn more about me and my practice at CarolynBulmashLCSW.com. Whether you're stressed, exhausted, or just need a safe place to process what's going on, please feel free to reach out via email, phone, or text. I'd be happy to connect.
