Therapy for anxiety, trauma, and family-of-origin wounds. Helping BIPOC adults reclaim identity, boundaries, and emotional freedom.
Starting therapy, especially for the first time, can feel confusing or intimidating. Many college students reach out because something does not feel quite right. Maybe you are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, disconnected, or noticing patterns in your relationships or family that you are just beginning to question. You may not have all the words for what you are experiencing yet, and that is completely okay. Therapy can be a place to start making sense of it. I work with students who are navigating anxiety, trauma, identity development, and family-of-origin challenges. College is often a time when people begin to see their lives with new perspective. You might be realizing how your upbringing shaped you, questioning expectations placed on you, or trying to figure out who you are outside of the roles you have had to play. I truly enjoy working with students across the academic journey, from freshmen adjusting to college life to graduate students, doctoral candidates, and post-docs navigating the pressures of advanced study and career transitions. Each stage brings its own challenges and questions about identity, belonging, purpose, and balance. It is meaningful work to support students as they grow into themselves during these pivotal years. Many of my clients describe themselves as the “strong one,” the responsible one, or the person who has always held things together for others. Over time, that can lead to burnout, people-pleasing, difficulty setting boundaries, or feeling disconnected from your own needs. In our work together, we slow things down and explore what has shaped those patterns while building skills to help you care for yourself differently. My approach is trauma-informed and collaborative. I integrate nervous system regulation, insight-oriented therapy, and practical tools so that therapy is both reflective and helpful in your day-to-day life. We will focus on understanding your experiences while also helping you develop strategies to manage stress, navigate relationships, and reconnect with your sense of self. As a Black therapist, I also hold space for conversations about culture, identity, and racial stress. Therapy can be a place where those parts of your experience are understood and welcomed rather than something you have to explain. You do not have to have everything figured out before starting therapy. Sometimes the work simply begins with curiosity: Why do I feel this way? What do I need? Who do I want to become? If you are ready to explore those questions, I would be honored to support you.
