Ana Carla Smith

Dr. Smith was born in Miami and raised in Tampa, Florida. She attended the University of Miami, earning a Bachelor's of Science degree in Biology and Psychology, and continued on at UM for her Doctor of Medicine degree. Finally tired of the year-round heat, she moved north (to "The South") and completed her post-graduate trainings in General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Duke University Medical Center. She started Developing Minds in 2008. Dr. Smith is Board Certified in both Adult and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. She currently lives in Durham, North Carolina with her husband, daughter and rottweiler-lab mix.
