Amal McKenzie
(She/Her/Hers)
Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC)
I see therapy as a collaborative effort between myself and my clients. As a queer black woman, I value my ability to provide safe space for my clients.
I have a passion for working with women of color and LGBTQIA+ identifying folks. If you find yourself experiencing things like depression and anxiety, or low self-esteem/self-concept, I may be a good fit for you. I have past experience working with clients on things like life adjustments (moving, end of a relationship, career change, etc.), grief and loss, day-to-day stressors, and relationship concerns - romantic, platonic, familial, and professional. I like to take an integrative approach to counseling using person-centered, strength-based, solution-focused, CBT, and mindfulness approaches, but the most important piece in my practice is building an honest and genuine relationship with my clients. I do my best to have social justice and black feminist perspectives throughout my sessions.
