(She/Her/Hers)
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
Have you ever looked around the room and thought, “I do not belong here”, “I am not good enough”, or “I do not know how to get through this”?
As a Latina and first generation sometimes it felt you were pushed to be better, do better, or more while feeling the weight of family, culture and society. Sometimes those expectations could even feel conflicting. Despite life lessons and resiliency that shaped you into the adult you are today, you may feel like something is still missing or some of those thoughts continue bothering you. Having self-doubt, putting others' needs before your own, feeling torn between your family expectations and what you want, or not knowing how to set boundaries are all common experiences Latine go through. When you reach a point where it no longer feels like you, it takes courage to reach out and ask for help. In therapy you begin to explore patterns, use your knowledge and experiences to make sense of your life, and modify what is not working for you. You learn to set realistic expectations, boundaries, and let go of things that no longer serve you. You begin to take control of your life and your decisions so it feels right for you. You learn to navigate your roles in your workplace, culture, society, history, family, relationships, and/or gender.
