(She/Her/Hers)
Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC)
I am a bilingual clinician specialized in grief counseling, life transitions and anxiety. I also incorporate art into sessions to process emotions.
Hello, I am Veronica! I am originally from Uruguay, so Spanish is my first language. I decided to become a counselor at a very young age after the death of a loved one. I struggled communicating my emotions and understanding my grief, and I knew that I was not the only one struggling with this. Grief is not only the loss of a loved one, but it is also any significant loss that is a life changing event. Grieving can feel not only overwhelming, but also isolating. Society tends to minimize, deny and even judge the pain that comes with grief, but grief is not only natural but also and necessary. Some examples of grief: death of a loved one, end of a relationship, serious illness, death of a pet, loss of physical ability, etc. Life transitions are changes or adjustments that impact your lifestyle in a significant way. These can be planned or unplanned. Even exciting life transitions can be challenging because it forces us to make changes an adapt to a new reality. Some examples of life transitions are: going to college, the birth of a child, getting married, divorce/separation, moving, etc. With grief and life transitions comes change and the need to adapt to a new reality. This can cause some anxiety which is a normal reaction (to some extent) to uncertainty and stress. Together, we will develop healthy coping skills and manage your emotions. I utilize not only talk therapy but also art therapy to facilitate the expression of emotions.
