Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
I welcome the opportunity to talk more with you and explore the best ways to support you and to see if I could be a good fit for you.
For 10 years, I've been a private practice therapist and community educator working with families and individuals who have needed support, guidance and clinical expertise around issues of trauma, mental health, life challenges, relationships, and personal growth. My area of expertise is in the kind of trauma that happens when we are young, trauma that impacts the way we learn to do family and relationships, the way we view and understand ourselves, and the way we navigate life. This translates into symptoms that focus on depression, anxiety, attention, habits, social/emotional/relational challenges, grief, and feeling a loss of identity. The discomfort of these experiences generally leave people feeling detached and disconnected so it is important to help them reconnect with their body, their thought process, their sense of inner being, and with their authentic sense of direction. In addition to modalities like mindfulness, CBT, and the Neuroaffective Relational Model (NARM), I do know these things: Talk therapy only goes so far in addressing feelings and senses that speak through the body. Healing involves learning how to reconnect with and learning how to "listen" to the body. Two, our greatest power lies within, not outside of us. We can't control the world but we have choices as to how we move through our inner experience. Learning to change our thoughts is key. And, a compassionate and non-judgmental approach toward self and others makes all the difference in healing.
