Lorena Guerini

I specialize in addressing the interplay between clinical issues and the broader social, cultural, and political contexts. My current focus areas include life transitions, immigration, intercultural relationships, substance use, and the mental health of university students. I have worked especially with people who have received diagnoses such as anxiety, depression, substance-related disorders, and psychosis. Over the years, my patients have taught me that people are much more than their diagnoses and that we can always transform ourselves, despite the difficulties. As a psychoanalyst employing the critical tools of schizoanalysis, I grasp that the unconscious extends beyond an archive of familial stories, working as a political arena where personal, cultural, social, and historical dimensions intersect.
