Kevin Carter

Through my work as an employee for the department of social services and counseling, I bring over 20 years of experience working with adolescents, adults and couples who are struggling with a wide variety of presenting issues and life stressors such as self -esteem, anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship issues, abuse/neglect and other trauma related issues. During our time together, I will utilize an integrated approach with influences from person centered therapy, family systems, and cognitive behavioral interventions. Each of our experiences, challenges, stressors and strengths are unique. My goal as a psychotherapist is to act as a tour guide as we uncover family of origin patterns, past traumas, and stressors to increase self-awareness, strengths, and resiliency. As an avid sports fan and a former athlete, I am also intrigued by the connection between mental health and helping people achieve peak performance. I believe that trust and respect are necessary to establish a strong therapeutic alliance. I will be honest, empathic, caring, and at times, challenging. I am committed to facilitating an environment of acceptance, hope, and encouragement.
