Christopher (Chris) Toenes
Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
I have a warm, relational style and will pay close attention to what you want out of therapy. I use an anti-racist and anti-oppressive lens in therapy.
You made it to the most difficult part: reaching out. Beginning to look for support can often be the hardest step toward meaning, connection, and emotional wellness. I would be honored to hold space for you. Some people seek therapy to have life to feel more fulfilling and to get closer to their authentic selves. Others may be struggling with emotions and stress, and want strategies to reduce the effects of grief or trauma or dealing with internal pain of varying kinds. I have a warm, empathic style. I work with adults, from those in early adulthood to those in their later years. I am experienced working with mood disorders and anxiety, with specialization in complicated grief, and have experience working with trauma. I also enjoy working with people in long-term recovery from substance use. My style is relational, focusing on the relationship between client and therapist, so I will pay close attention to what you want out of therapy. I utilize psychodynamic approaches, behavioral skills, mindfulness, and am trained in EMDR. I deeply enjoy working with folks in the BIPOC and LGBTQIA communities around identity and use an anti-oppressive lens.
