Amber Bard
Psychiatrist
I am a warm and caring psychiatrist.
I am a psychiatrist who is truly interested in you as a person and how we can work together to help you feel better. I am very careful and intentional with medications. I strive to make sure you understand potential common side effects as well as potential benefits of a medication before I prescribe it. In some cases, it's possible no medication is needed at all. I take into account any genetic predispositions, family history, upbringing, and life experiences before offering a diagnosis. Our relationship is very important to me; I want you to feel heard and understood. I consider myself to be a warm and responsive physician. My four-year residency at the University of Chicago in adult psychiatry taught me how to treat people presenting with complex problems, non-psychiatric illness manifesting as psychiatric symptoms, and trauma. It provided a solid foundational training in psychotherapy techniques including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, DBT, and psychodynamics. If you feel we would be a good fit and are ready to work together to get to feeling better, then I am looking forward to meeting you! Please call my clinic office at the number listed and request an appointment with me. I typically have openings for new patients within 1-4 weeks.
