Tobin (Toby) Kriwiel
(He/Him/His)
Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT)
I provide therapy and care for individuals, couples, families, parents, and members of the LGBTQ community, in the state of Kansas.
As a therapist, you will find it difficult to convince me that you are the problem. Whether the problem is depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, marital strain, or the honorable goal of raising your kids well, I will listen to you and your story with open ears and a kind heart. I won't pretend to be an expert on your life, though I will offer helpful and honest recommendations along the journey. The primary therapy approaches I use are Narrative Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Bowen Family Systems.

Emotion Focused Therapy – Externship
ICEEFT
An Externship in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy® is an immersive four-day (24+ hour) training experience, foundational for therapists aiming to specialize in EFCT. Led by certified trainers, it offers a comprehensive introduction to the EFCT model, focusing on the science of attachment and the systematic approach to couple therapy. This training is crucial for therapists because it equips them with the necessary skills to foster secure, resilient relationships in therapy.
Narrative Certificate Program
Narrative Therapy Initiative
The year-long Narrative Certificate Program is for people interested in developing a rigorous personal understanding of the Narrative Worldview and its social justice ethics and practices. The goal of this course is to help participants establish a solid foundation for their professional identity and preferred ways of helping. Drawing from participants' personal and professional lived experiences, the course emphasizes an experiential-learning philosophy and community-building orientation.
