Blakely Patterson
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
I welcome clients of all ages and backgrounds. I seek to create a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship with each client.
Successful counseling is founded on a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship. In order to build this alliance, I take time to genuinely know each client’s unique personality, context, and culture. I believe that every person is a physiological, psychological, social, and spiritual being. Thus, I evaluate my client’s presenting issues from each of these domains. I seek to help my clients find solutions to their struggles by considering their problems in a holistic manner. Together, we seek healing and change that can endure beyond the counseling relationship. My counseling approach draws from a variety of counseling theories. I use an array of techniques and theories because I believe a “one size fits all” counseling method can become static. Instead, I seek to work with my clients to determine the best course of treatment for them. Some of the theories I use include but are not limited to: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), the Gottman method, Family Systems Theory, and if requested, Biblical Counseling. I am trained in Prepare Enrich marital/premarital program. I also use play therapy and art therapy with children and adolescents.
