Amanda Malak
(She/Her/Hers)
Psychologist
Through biopsychosocialspiritual care, I support your growth as the unique being the universe made you to be.
As the owner and clinical psychologist at Malak Psychology, I believe people can build the lives they want to live by aligning themselves with their values which may shift with the various seasons of life. Born and raised by conservative, Coptic (indigenous Egyptian) immigrants in AZ, I connect to my faith and ethnicity due to the connection with my ancestors and community. Nevertheless, I also experienced pain from its teachings and struggled with the acculturation process. Many of my LGBTQ+ and third culture peers have had similar experiences. Personally, my current faith parallels the indigenous peoples of the lands we occupy, the Piipaash and O’odham, and my ancient Egyptian ancestors. I enjoy supporting participants on their own biopsychosocialspiritual journey. I have worked with extremely conservative participants, although I personally lean liberal, and I feel at home with my people who value diversity, equity, inclusion, and the ecological wellbeing of the planet and universe. I do believe we all have more in common than our political atmosphere makes it seem, and connecting to those who are the least like me can impact incremental systemic change.
