Psychiatrist, Psychotherapist
I see my profession as helping people by understanding what they are suffering from (diagnosis) and finding the most appropriate treatment.
As a psychiatrist, I see my profession as helping people by understanding what they are suffering from (diagnosis) and finding the most appropriate treatment, through psychotherapy and/or medication management. My experience ranges from severe mental illness to traumatic experiences that affect ability to function, to troubles of everyday living such as interpersonal difficulties, grief, divorce and infertility/adoption issues. I provide long-term therapy for self-exploration, emotional development, and changing complex personality patterns that can make everyday life difficult or therapy of shorter duration focused on specific problems. The general modality of therapy is psychodynamic. Treatment is based on an emphasis of the relationship that forms between the patient and the therapist, as most issues affecting mental well-being manifest themselves within this relationship. I also use cognitive-behavioral concepts and I am competent in the Stages of Change? model for treatment of addictions. My CGP allows for conducting individual, or group therapy based on the patient's preference and the best fit for the problem.I offer consultation for therapists and patients who experience problems in their collaboration, ranging from impasse to wounding in therapy. I help to reestablish a working therapeutic alliance.
