Melissa Garcia
Psychologist, Psychotherapist
I'm a compassionate, genuine psychotherapist who works collaboratively with my clients to provide a safe space for vulnerability, creativity, and change.
I specialize working with adults and college/graduate students with a variety of concerns including depression, generalized and social anxiety, life transitions, low self-esteem, and relationship concerns. I'm curious and conscious of people's unique backgrounds, identities, and experiences, and I individualize care to most effectively meet client needs. Fluent in both Spanish and English, I embraces my bilingualism as a means of fostering connection and understanding. I use an integrative approach that draws from cognitive-behavioral, acceptance and commitment, and mindfulness interventions. I strongly believe in cultural consciousness as a powerful tool for dismantling barriers and fostering cultural unity. Relatedly, I'm committed to fostering respect, understanding, and open communication in all her interactions. Cultivating self-compassion is integral to both my personal growth and professional practice, and I strives to support individuals in finding their own creative paths to fulfillment and well-being. Additionally, I'm an avid gamer and, when relevant, welcomes clients’ gaming identities and interests (as well as others!) into the therapeutic process.
