Laura Cleavland
(She/Her/Hers)
Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
I offer a warm, welcoming, and authentic presence. I believe the relationship between client and therapist is key to the effectiveness of counseling.
I offer an authentic and compassionate presence for all of my clients. I am welcoming, and genuinely interested in understanding my clients so that I can support them to find alignment in their life. I view therapy as an aid in your self-exploration and understanding, and prioritize developing a trusting relationship with my clients in order to be most effective in our work together. I provide therapy for young adults, adults, and couples. My specialties include: life transitions, relationship issues, mindfulness, personal identity, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and family dynamics. I draw from a variety of approaches, including interpersonal, process-based, mindfulness, internal family systems, the Gottman approach, and cognitive behavioral therapies to work with diverse clientele, adjusting my orientation to meet the needs of each client. I believe the relationship between client and therapist is key to the effectiveness of counseling. I always start out with a brief phone conversation to get to know each other and a feel for if we're the best fit for counseling.
