Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
What you have to say is so important; I'd love to hear your story. My practice welcomes all identities and backgrounds.
I've been working with youth and their families in outpatient and residential settings for a little over 10 years. Adults and young people who are struggling with depression, stress, self-esteem, life transitions, relationship issues, and parenting have found me to be helpful. I use an eclectic approach to treatment, drawing techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (for Borderline Personality Disorder), Exposure Response Prevention (for OCD), Seeking Safety (for trauma and substance use), attachment theories, family systems and the Positive Parenting Program. I've found that identifying thinking issues (also sometimes referred to as "cognitive distortions" or "thinking mistakes") is a really important part of figuring out why you don't feel good emotionally. I believe we can change our mood by changing our self-talk. I also think it's crucial to examine your early childhood experiences to understand your coping and relationship habits that aren't working. I always strive to help people reduce distressing feelings, replace unhelpful habits with more adaptive ones, and improve connections with others.
