Virginia Smith
Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC)
I often bring my dog Wren to serve as a hypoallergenic therapy dog. I primarily use CBT. I can provide counseling from Christian perspective when asked.
I have been counseling since 2018 and consider counseling a process that may be necessary during challenging times in life. This process may involve fixing faulty beliefs, adjusting behaviors, or sometimes learning how to suffer well. I primarily counsel using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), however, an eclectic approach (EMDR, DBT) may be used to meet a client’s specific needs. CBT’s aim is to help clients recognize and change irrational beliefs, in order to experience emotional and/or behavioral change. My education focused on an integrated theoretical approach and the intersection of counseling theories with Biblical principles. Upon request, I am able to provide counseling from a Biblical worldview.
